SHY FRiEND is what happens when a queer, prairie-based, chronically-online & toxically self-determined artist faces the realities of the music industry in late-stage capitalism. It’s brutally honest, tragically dramatic, & full of feminine rage. SHY FRiEND has been turning the Alberta music scene into a space for the queer, alt, pop & punk misfits to share in while experiencing the sonic equivalent of their mantra “TO BE CRINGE IS TO BE FREE”.

Stepping foot into the audience at a SHY FRiEND concert is like entering a gay bar on Halloween. There’s always a theme - whether it be as simple as “beach party” or as interpretive as “Rainforest Cafe” the band is dressed to the nines - and you can always spot a SHY FRiEND fan in the audience by their theme-inspired outfit. SHY FRiEND is a powerhouse of sass & passion, with each member hooting, hollering, and dancing up a storm on stage (and oftentimes jumping into the crowd to be a part of the party!) The energy that SHY FRiEND gives off bleeds into the audience with screaming contests, mosh pits, singalongs and call & responses creating a synergetic environment akin to a secular punk rock church.
