The Stampede Parade is an iconic part of Calgary’s cultural identity. Since 1912, the Stampede Parade has served as the official kickoff of The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. Each year, the Stampede Parade entertains our community with a showcase of colourful floats, majestic horses and the high-energy marching bands.

It's not just a parade marching down a street; it is a march through tradition, history and Calgary’s culture.

2022 Stampede Parade Marshal

Kevin Costner

The iconic Calgary Stampede Parade returns on Friday, July 8, to kick off The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth and will be led by legendary actor, producer, director and musician Kevin Costner as this year’s Parade Marshal. For over 35 years, Costner has been entertaining the world through his movies, television shows and music.

From Walt Disney to Bing Crosby, Christopher Reeve to William Shatner, take a look back at the history of Parade Marshals of the Calgary Stampede Parade.

John Scott

A third-generation rancher, Scott is an instrumental member of the community and has been at the heart of the local film industry for over 50 years, showcasing southern Alberta on the big and small screens.

David Spence

You may know him from CTV Calgary covering major weather events in our city, including the Pine Lake Tornado and the Calgary flood of 2013, David Spence's iconic voice graced our televisions for nearly 40 years.

Many will remember the end of an era when he shaved his iconic moustache in support of the Movember fundraising campaign, Spence has been giving back to our community since his retirement in 2021 through Weather in the Classroom, helping raise funds for cancer oriented charities.

He loves 80s hair bands, the outdoors, and he's your 2022 Calgary Stampede Parade Celebrity Judge.
