Relay Racing is a high-adrenaline event that requires a powerful combination of teamwork, precision and horsemanship.

The best Indigenous Relay Racing teams take to the track each night at the Calgary Stampede at the conclusion of the Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon Races. 16 teams show off their incredible skills, with riders mounted bareback racing the track at top speed, then leaping off to swap horses before taking off on another lap.

Reflecting popular demand and new for 2026, broadcast coverage of the Rangeland Derby is expanding to include both the chuckwagon races and the relay races! Fans across Canada can tune in at 8:30 p.m. MT nightly from July 3 to 12 on Sportsnet and Sportsnet One, and U.S. viewers can tune in on The Cowboy Channel and Cowboy Channel+.
