From the planning power of the Stampede Parade Committee to on-the-ground work by street marshals, the Parade involves hundreds of volunteers. We’re always looking for more people to help bring this annual tradition to life.
Parade Day Volunteers
We are looking for a few individuals to be Volunteer Street Marshals to help the Parade committee with this important task on Parade Day. Responsibilities include ensuring that the Parade viewers are safely behind the curb and that they are having a good time. Marshals are the "eyes and ears" of the Parade committee, get help in case of medical emergencies and will assist Police and EMS in case of injuries or accidents. Those marshals placed in intersections could be requested to part the crowds and clear the intersections for emergency vehicle access.
We hold two (2) orientation meetings in late June and require all marshals to attend. Positions are pre-assigned, information packages are distributed and presentations are given by Calgary Police Service, EMS, Parade Committee Coordinators, etc.
