Biography
Keith Andrews' oil paintings possess a monochromatic feel, emphasizing light, shadow, and atmosphere above all else. While his distinctive style often showcases North American wildlife, the true focus is storytelling—conveying narratives that resonate deeply with viewers.
A full-time painter since 2013, Andrews' signature style emerged in 2016, leading to growing recognition. He studied under renowned Oregon artist Terry Isaac for over eight years until Isaac’s passing in 2019. Reflecting on his mentor’s influence, Andrews recalls, "Terry taught me that a painting should evoke emotion. If it didn’t give him goosebumps, it wasn’t ready. I miss him every time I pick up a brush."
Recently, Andrews has transitioned from smaller 18x24-inch birch panel works to large-scale canvases as massive as 9x6 feet. He embraces this shift, explaining, "Painting big loosens me up. It forces me to capture detail economically rather than painting every hair. It has made me a better artist across all sizes."
