WHAT IS A POWWOW?
A Powwow is a First Nations gathering that includes dancing. These events may be used to celebrate or to honour and sometimes include a competition. Those taking part in the dances wear colorful regalia to match the style of their dance. Some regalia may be handed down from generation to generation.
