There’s nothing like the energy of a live show, especially at the Calgary Stampede. Whether you’re catching your favourite headliner or discovering new artists, being concert-ready means more than just knowing the setlist. It’s about looking out for yourself, your friends and family, and everyone around you. These tips will help you stay safe, stay smart and make the most of your concert experience.
- A safe show is a great show: Live music is meant to be enjoyed, and that starts with creating a space where everyone feels welcome, comfortable and safe.
- Be aware of your surroundings: Know where to find exits, first aid and security when you arrive. Being aware keeps you safe in the event of an emergency.
- Stick together and stay connected: Stick with your group and agree on a meeting spot in case you get separated. Keep your phone charged so you can stay connected.
- We’re Greatest Together, so let’s keep each other safe and make it a Stampede to remember. Drink water often, eat throughout the day and protect yourself from the sun to keep your energy up and ensure you’re able to enjoy the full experience.
- Respect the space and those around you: Pushing, shoving and unsafe behaviour of any kind are not tolerated.
- Anticipate peak times: Crowds increase significantly during headliner performances. If you prefer more space, consider arriving early or watching from farther back.
- Dress for Calgary weather: Conditions can change quickly. Bring layers, check the forecast and come prepared for anything from sun to sudden rain.
- Stay off structures, trees and equipment: Temporary fences, towers, trees and staging equipment are not safe to climb or lean on. Please keep a safe distance and help us maintain a secure environment for all guests.
- If something doesn’t feel right, speak up: Security and event staff are here to help. If you or someone else need help, let security, police or nearby event staff know immediately.
- Help your family be concert-ready too: As parents, you want your kids to enjoy every moment safely and confidently. Before they head to the show, take a moment to remind your teens to stay with their group, be aware of their surroundings and know where to go for help so they can focus on having fun and making the most of their Stampede.
