As part of our ongoing commitment to community engagement and extending the spirit of the Calgary Stampede year-round, we are proud to introduce a new initiative:
The Calgary Stampede Champion Award.
This program is designed to spotlight local athletes who not only excel in their sport but also embody the values that define the Stampede spirit: Western hospitality, integrity and commitment to the community.
Youth community sports groups, grassroots leagues, and sports organizations across Calgary and surrounding areas are invited to apply for Calgary Stampede Champion Award packages to present to their standout athletes during the Fall 2025 season. Each award package includes two admission passes to Stampede 2026, a Calgary Stampede Champion cowboy hat and a blank award certificate for the team to complete. Teams may request multiple awards to present at any point in their season, such as a tournament, season wrap-up or other celebration. Applications are open August 18 and will remain open until the maximum number of nominations is received.
Who Can Apply
- Youth community-based sports teams and leagues
- Grassroots or youth athletic organizations
- School-affiliated teams or recreational groups

How to Submit a Nomination
- Complete the Online Application Form
Provide team name and contact details. - Indicate number of awards you’re requesting
How many athletes will you be awarding? Consider if this award is for a specific tournament, a season-end award, awarded at each home game, etc. When selecting winners, please consider the following questions to help assess how the nominated athlete(s) represent the spirit of a Calgary Stampede Champion:
- In what ways does this athlete demonstrate Western hospitality both on and off the field?
E.g., welcoming new teammates, supporting others, showing respect and generosity. - How has this athlete shown integrity in their sport?
Consider moments of honesty, fairness, leadership, or perseverance (even when no one is watching.) - How is this athlete involved in or committed to their community beyond sports?
This could include volunteering, mentoring others, or being a role model in their school or neighbourhood. - Think of a specific moment or story that captures this athlete’s character.
A memorable example that shows why they stand out as a Champion.
