Artist Statement

Painting is not work to me—it’s something I become absorbed in. I am fascinated by light and shadow in nature and how they bring depth and emotion to a scene.

Although I take reference photos and sketches, I never let them dictate my work. I prefer a pencil sketch over a photograph because it captures the subject’s essence rather than just its details. My goal is not to recreate an image but to convey the mood and atmosphere of a moment.
