Looking for something free and exciting for the family this week and weekend? Come on down to the Arabian Horse Association’s Region 17 Championships, which is a competition for Arabian horses, showcasing their beauty, agility and heritage, at the Agrium Western Event Centre!

From the ancient Middle East to the Heart of the New West, Arabian horses are oldest known breed of riding horse. One of the most popular breed across America, their incredible energy, intelligence and gentle disposition makes them an all-around athletic star for most equine sports and activities.

Competitors adorn the trophies and ribbon prizes they won in the Stampede barns.

Each July, more than 500 entries from across Western Canada and the United States compete in the Arabian Horse Association Region 17’s Western Canadian Championships. This spectator-friendly event showcases Arabian horses and riders in the full spectrum of event disciplines. The Championships are a very colourful and elegant event, with riders and horses in full regalia, everything from English formal attire or Arabian costumes to Western wear. Come on down to Stampede Park and cheer for your favourite competitors!
