Biography
Karen Coe’s passion for art has been lifelong. Inspired as a child by illustrator and professor James Watling, she later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Lethbridge in 2003.
Growing up on horseback instilled in Coe a deep love for equine subjects, which remains central to her work. Now a full-time artist based in Lethbridge, Alberta, she balances her career with family life, drawing inspiration from the prairies and mountains she calls home.
Artist Statement
I want my work to evoke emotion, transporting viewers to familiar places or imagined landscapes. Every piece must stir something in me before I share it with others. My art is a fusion of texture, vibrancy, and passion—crafted to capture the spirit of my subjects and create lasting connections with those who experience it.
