Creative Arts and Crafts

The Calgary Stampede Creative Arts and Crafts competition was borne out of the tradition of displaying creative works in a country fair. The display and judging of the arts and crafts engages the community with the Calgary Stampede and supports our western heritage, and has been showcasing the work of local crafters for more than 40 years. This exhibition preserves traditional art forms and advances new and modern forms of creativity including textiles, wood, ceramics, paper and sugar.

While preserving the traditional, the display also showcases emerging art forms. All are judged by experts in their fields to provide invaluable feedback to the participants. Ribbons and prize money are awarded to the top entries.

The Grade 12 Scholarship Program

The Grade 12 Scholarship program fosters youth education through the celebration and advocacy of western art. For more than 35 years, we have been awarding scholarships to Calgary and southern Alberta Grade 12 students. These scholarships may be used for the post-secondary educational program of the winners choice.

Unfortunately we were unable to host our competition for Stampede 2021, but a selection of art from previous winners will be on display in the Art Show this year.
