Jana McDonald

Jana McDonald is a 22-year-old singer/songwriter, dancer and model who is passionate about creating and performing music. She is inspired by her two older brothers Daniel and Jay McDonald who are both extraordinary musicians and encourage her to further develop her talents and become a household name within the country music industry whether through writing or performing.

She first began singing in church and began competing on stage at the age of 7 at the Kiwanis Music Festival in the Musical Theatre category where she took home multiple first place prizes. At the age of 12, she attended the Willow Park Arts School, followed by the Performing and Visual Arts Program at Central Memorial High School where she was able to further her stage experience and hone her craft.

In 2014, she began competing in the Stampede Talent Search, where she proceeded to make the finals in 2015 and won the Don Weldon “Most Promising Performer” Award in 2016. That same year she was introduced to her writing partner and guitarist Aaron Archer who she now performs with consistently.

Together the pair have written originals such as “ Blind as He’s Ever Been” and “Border Town” and perform throughout the Stampede and the city of Calgary.

Jana became a member of the Stampede Talent Search Committee in 2017 and is incredibly excited for the opportunity to help upcoming artists develop in her hometown of Calgary Alberta.
