Months ago when Calgary Stampede President and Chairman of the Board, Bill Gray made the decision to invite Paul Brandt and Jann Arden to be the 2016 Calgary Stampede Parade Marshals – he had no idea it would lead to 300 tubs of peanut butter and jam being donated to the Calgary Food Bank.
The president’s parade marshal is top secret until the moment we reveal it to the public. This year was no different–so Bill Gray coined the code name PB&J to refer to the duo in the months leading up to the announcement.
Finally, on June 8, we let Parade Marshal secret out and announced Paul Brandt and Jann Arden as this year’s Marshals. They quickly took a liking to PB&J and before we knew it the Calgary Food Bank, with Paul and Jann’s support, received a donation of 300 tubs of peanut butter from Kraft and 300 jars of jam from Calgary Co-op. These donations will help fill 300 food hampers for people in need.
Peanut butter and jam are two staples at the Calgary Food Bank – a favourite for all ages and “peanut butter is ‘jam’ packed with protein!” says Shawna Ogston, communications & media relations from the Calgary Food Bank.
