Howdy everyone & Happy New Year!

As Queen Maggie, Princess Chelsey and I prepare for The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth and continue our journey as the Royal Trio, we find ourselves spending a lot of time with three dashing princes – our horses, of course! Riding is a big part of becoming a Stampede Queen or Princess; there are three different equestrian portions throughout our competition and improving our horsemanship is an integral part of our year as Stampede Royalty. Queen Maggie, Princess Chelsey and I riding Snoopy, Hawk and Kansas in our final riding competition

Hawk, Snoopy and Kansas have been the trusty companions to the Royal Trio for many years. They’ve walked in  countless parades and raced around tons of rodeo arenas doing grand entry and we are sure lucky to have them. They make an excellent trio and we always find them close to one another out in the pasture. Like all other horses (and people), these boys all have their own distinct personalities. Maggie, Chelsey and I were talking about it one night after a riding clinic, and we chose celebrity personalities to go along with each of them. For those of you who haven’t had the chance to meet our fantastic ponies, here is a bit of an inside scoop as to what they’re like:

Hawk: George Clooney Hawk is the oldest of the boys by a few years, and everyone calls him “Hawk the Rock” because he is so good. Hawk isn’t one to spook, ignore foot or rein signals, and has a wonderful temperament. Plus, he is SO handsome. We reckon that George Clooney and Hawk would get along well because of their even keeled personalities, and years of experience and success in their designated professions.

Snoopy: Justin Timberlake Snoopy is a performer. We think he’d be an excellent dancer if he were a person. Snoopy loves to go fast and is always energetic in the arena. Snoopy also knows the words to ‘O Canada’ and when the song is about to end, he’s always ready to exit the arena right on time as fireworks go off. Musically inclined, a smooth performer and striking good looks – Snoopy and Justin Timberlake are a perfect personality match.

Kansas: Jimmy Fallon Oh Kansas, the funny guy. Kansas and Jimmy Fallon both have quirky personalities that often make those around them laugh. Sometimes it’s hard to get the class clown to be serious, but you know he has a heart of gold. Kansas is a big love bug who loves affection and will always give a funny ‘neigh’ or ‘snort’ in response my chit chat. Banner2

With our Princes!

Maggie, Chelsey and I all love every minute we get to spend in the saddle, especially our beautiful trophy saddles from Eamor’s Saddlery. Heathercrest Ranch is our sponsor boarder for the boys and they also give us access to their indoor arena, so we’ve been able to ride all through the fall and winter, despite the cold weather and lack of sun. We’ve also been fortunate enough to work with Clay Webster as our sponsor clinician this year. Clay is very dedicated to making us the best possible team we can be with our horses and we’ve already learned so much from him! We certainly feel very lucky to have such great sponsors helping us with our horses.

Much love & happy trails,

Princess B

PS. Your 90’s Country Flashback Song of the week is “Unanswered Prayers” by Garth Brooks. A song about things falling into place right when they’re supposed to seems like a good omen for the New Year.

PPS. George Clooney, Justin Timberlake & Jimmy Fallon: if any of you are reading this and you’re going to be in the Calgary area any time soon, we’d be happy to arrange a meeting between you and your equine-counterpart! 3

See you on down the road.
