On Monday, July 6 beginning at 8 a.m. families of children with special needs had the pleasure of experiencing Stampede Park to themselves before the busy crowds entered at 11 a.m. in an event called Giddy-Up Grits.

Giddy-Up Grits is one of the five special needs events that take place throughout the year and are put on by the Queens’ Alumni committee. New this year, the Kids’ Day committee helped out by providing the breakfast. For many years prior, this task was taken up by the Caravan committee.

The North American Midway Entertainment (NAME) employees and representatives of the Military and NAVY displays were happy to open their rides and spaces to the attendees of the event.

Families enjoyed pancakes, face painting, balloons, rides, interacting with a llama and more. It was a wonderful day!
