The Calgary Stampede is sliding to the finish line as a proud sponsor of the Canadian Bobsleigh and Skeleton team at this year’s BMW International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup.

At the core of the Calgary Stampede is the spirit of community and for more than 105 years, the CS brand has been a well-known symbol in the Calgary community. It’s this same spirit that fuels us and makes us proud to support our Canadian athletes on their journey to the World Cup, as they inspire each one of us to be our best.

“This is an opportunity for the Calgary Stampede to showcase our brand to the world and invite guests from all over the globe to come and visit us and experience The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth,” said Lindsay Jardine, manager, tourism sales at the Calgary Stampede.

Last weekend at the Whistler race, we added some Stampede spirit, as former Stampede Royalty were in attendance, handing out medals and cheering on our Canadian team. And, if you were watching you may have spotted our name on the side of the four-man bobsled.

“The Calgary Stampede is a community organization and we are proud to support our Canadian athletes as they compete on the World Cup circuit,” said Jardine. “Not only are these athletes inspiring Canadian role models, but they are examples of how hard work and determination pays off.”

The four-man bobsled led by driver Justin Kripps finished fourth in Whistler. The World Cup will take them across North America, Europe and Asia.

“We wish our athletes the best of luck on the World Cup circuit, we’re excited to see you at the podium,” added Jardine.

Members from Queens’ Alumni and former Indian Princess joined the Canadian Bobsleigh and Skeleton team on the podium as they received their medals in Whistler on November 25, 2017.

The Calgary Stampede would also like to congratulate the following athletes for their accomplishments in Whistler: Kaillie Humphries and Melissa Lotholz (gold, women’s bobsled), Chris Spring and Neville Wright (gold, two-man bobsled), Justin Kripps and Alexander Kopacz (silver, two-man bobsled) and Jane Channell (silver, women’s skeleton).
