For over 35 years, the Calgary Stampede Talent Search has been finding and nurturing young amateur performing artists, seeking the brightest talent from across Canada. This weekend, May 5 – 7, 2017, auditions once again begin in search of young entertainers seeking the limelight, at the Boyce Theatre located on Stampede Park.
Billed as a unique experience helping talented Canadian youth expand their artistic passions, young performers 6-21 years of age are invited down to Stampede Park to give it their all, taking the stage to impress audiences and judges alike. Performers 6 – 12 years of age will compete for a spot in the Stampede Week competition and development opportunities. Performers 13 – 21 years of age will compete for a spot in the Stampede Week competition, the chance to win the Grand Prize of $10,000 cash, a one-of-a-kind belt buckle, and a customized performer development package.
Performers also have a chance to be selected for the $2,000 “Don Welden Award”, given to the performer who demonstrates talent, a positive attitude, professionalism, support of other performers and support of the Stampede Talent Search.
Previous Stampede Talent Search winners include chart-topping Paul Brandt, world-renowned opera singer Gordon Gietz, international touring actor Shawn Kinley and the voice of the Calgary Flames, Heather Natividad.
