The Calgary Stampede Showband was in Indianapolis, Ind. last week for the Drum Corps International’s (DCI) SoundSport and DrumLine Battle competitions. After facing off against the best of the best in the Marching Music’s Major League, we are proud to report that the Stampede Showband achieved a gold rating in the SoundSport competition for the all-age, more than 50 members category! The Showband also won Best in Show for SoundSport!

The Showband’s SoundSport set featured crowd favourites from this year’s Saddledome Steps show, including “Shake It Off“, “Bang Bang“, “Uptown Funk” and “Call Me Al.”

The Showband’s drumline competed in DrumLine Battle; after competing against the MacMaster University Marching Band and Diplomats Drum and Bugle Corps from Windsor, Ont., the Showband was named International Class Champions!

They then advanced and competed against the world-class champions, Academy Drum and Bugle Corps in the semi-finals. It was extremely close competition but Academy won to advance to the finals.

All of the drumlines were exceptionally entertaining and talented; but what set the Calgary Stampede Showband apart was their unique western style, including signature red boots and knack for entertaining large crowds.
